Deadly Avalanche Icefall Looms Over Everest Base Camp

NBC News engineer Stewart Scanlon was at a base camp Friday on Mount Everest working on a project for NBC and the Discovery Channel when an avalanche swept down a slope, killing at least 13 Sherpa guides in the mountain's deadliest disaster. He captured this dramatic view of the icefall in the aftermath of the avalanche.
