Leave it to Giada to make boozy soup

Love soup? Love booze? Well, today is your lucky day, friend.

TODAY contributor Giada De Laurentiis enlisted Kathie Lee and Hoda in making some "adults only" spiked, chilled soups on Wednesday morning. The ladies chopped and (reluctantly, in Hoda's kitchen-challenged way) seeded fruit and vegetables for a tasty treat, which included vodka-emboldened versions of chilled tomato soup and a saucy watermelon and cucumber soup.

It may sound scandalous, but it was all done in the name of efficiency. Who has time to drink and eat soup?

"I thought, why not put your soup and your cocktail all in one?" said Giada.

"How convenient," said KLG. "Saves so much time!"

Cooking with vodka always adds some drama, and as Hoda valiantly attempted to dice a cucumber, Giada asked with some concern, "You know how to hold a knife, right?"

Giada reminded the ladies to be sure to wait until the soups were fully cooled before adding any alcohol, and served them up in martini glasses.

"Oh my God, that's delicious," pronounced KLG. It's going to be a festive summer. You can grab the recipes here.
