The American who was seriously injured after being gored at a bull-running festival in Spain over the weekend is an Ole Miss sophomore who was studying abroad.

Ben Milley, 20, from Marietta, Georgia, is a Spanish and economics major, the University of Mississippi confirmed. He is studying in Salamanca, Spain.

Milley suffered injuries including a 16-inch wound to the thigh, after becoming entangled with a fighting bull during a festival in Ciudad Rodrigo on Saturday, hospital officials told The Associated Press. Milley’s mother was on her way to meet him in Spain, University of Mississippi officials said.

The festival is an annual event in Ciudad Rodrigo that celebrates the world of bullfighting, according to the Tourist Office of Spain in the United States.
