In a ceremony steeped in a millennium of tradition and pageantry, King Charles III was crowned monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Saturday.

Cheering crowds gathered in London to mark the moment that the Archbishop of Canterbury placed crowns on the heads of Charles and wife Camilla at Westminster Abbey before they returned to Buckingham Palace in a sumptuous procession.
