Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will make a "major announcement" about his 2016 plans in New Orleans on June 24.
Jindal, who has already made frequent visits to key primary states and launched a presidential exploratory committee, has previously said that he would made his 2016 plans known after the end of Louisiana's legislative session on June 11.
He would enter a crowded GOP presidential field. On Monday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham became the ninth entrant in the contest for the GOP nomination.
But the Louisiana Republican lags behind in GOP polls. A CNN / ORC poll out Tuesday showed him polling at just one percent support.
Jindal, who is Indian American, has served as the governor of Louisiana since 2008.
