Rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B were involved in an altercation Friday night that got physical at a New York Fashion Week party and left Cardi B with a mark on her head.

Minaj was finishing up a conversation with someone when Cardi B tried to attack her, but Minaj's security guards intervened, according to one person who witnessed the incident and asked for anonymity because the witness was not authorized to speak publicly.

When police arrived at the scene, Minaj had already left and Cardi B declined to file a complaint, an NYPD spokesman told NBC News.

Video circulating on social media shows Cardi B lunging toward someone and being held back at Harper's Bazaar Icons party Friday night. Cardi B reportedly threw one of her shoes at Minaj. Another video shows the platinum rapper being escorted out of the event by security.

Cardi B, wearing a voluminous red Dolce & Gabbana gown, was seen leaving the party with what appeared to be a bump on her head. She was barefoot.

In a post on Instagram, Cardi B didn't call out Minaj by name but alluded to the fight and said it was sparked because her mothering skills were being disparaged. Cardi B and rapper Offset, of the rap group Migos, recently had their first child together, a girl named Kulture Kiari Cephus.

"I let you talk big s--- about me!!" Cardi B wrote in the post. "I addressed you once in person, and every time you copped the plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f-----' off!!"

Minaj has not yet commented on the incident.

The quiet feud between Cardi B and Minaj came to a head with the release of the Migos track "Motorsport" in the fall of 2017. Both female rappers are featured on the song and it appeared that the two were taking shots at each other. In April, Minaj said she never thought there was bad blood with Cardi B and was dismayed by the misunderstanding.

"The first interview she did after 'Motorsport' came out, it just really hurt me," Minaj said on a podcast in the spring. "She looked so aggravated and angry."

They appeared to make up in May at the Met Gala, and Cardi B later appeared on the Howard Stern radio show to dismiss rumors of a rivalry.

"I never was feuding with anybody, there was a misunderstanding," she said. "I think she felt a certain type of way about something. I definitely felt a certain type of way about something."
