Jon Rudnitsky, Stand-Up Comic, Joins 'Saturday Night Live' as Featured Player

Season 41 premieres on Oct. 3 with host Miley Cyrus.

Well, isn't that special: "Saturday Night Live" is adding a fresh face to its lineup.

Jon Rudnitsky, a 25-year-old stand-up comedian from New Jersey, will join the long-running sketch series as a featured player, NBC said in a statement.

Rudnitsky won the 2012 Laugh Factory Laugh Bowl, a college comedy contest, and participated in this year's New Faces showcase at Montreal's Just for Laughs festival.

He built a following on YouTube with parodies of "House of Cards" and "True Detective."

Rudnitsky hails from Harrington Park, New Jersey, and graduated from the University of Southern California, NBC said.

Season 41 premieres on Oct. 3 with host Miley Cyrus. Amy Schumer makes her hosting debut on Oct. 10, and former cast member Tracy Morgan returns on Oct. 17.

Morgan has been recovering from a traumatic brain injury after a June 2014 car wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike. He returned to television this year in an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer.
