In one of the first images the world has seen of Palmyra since ISIS militants seized the ancient city last week, a black ISIS flag flutters above the 2,000-year-old Roman city's theater. The Jihadist media outlet Welayat Homs released the image on Thursday.

An ISIS commander has reportedly claimed that the extremist group will not destroy the ancient ruins ā€” but said that they would "pulverize" any statues in the city.
