A motorist was arrested after driving his Honda Civic around an Arizona airfield before smashing into the perimeter fence, police said Sunday.
Scottsdale Police Department received a call at 5:45 p.m. local time (8:35 p.m. ET) reporting a white car had crashed through one of the gates at Scottsdale Airport.
“The Honda Civic then attempted to leave the airport property by smashing through a fence line,” the department said in a statement.
Preston Scott Andrews, 23, was “quickly taken into custody” and arrested for “extreme D.U.I. and felony criminal damage,” it said.
“The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working with the FAA in regards to additional federal charges,” the statement added. “There are no links to terrorism at this time.”
