Las Vegas Hostage Shootout Sees Two Cops Hurt and Suspect Killed

Two police officers were shot and injured and a suspect was killed after a hostage situation at a Las Vegas home turned into an exchange of fire.

Two police officers were shot and injured and a suspect was killed after a domestic hostage situation at a Las Vegas area home turned into a deadly exchange of fire, police said.

A SWAT team was called Tuesday evening after multiple people — including three children between 6 months and 6 years old — were barricaded inside the building in North Las Vegas.

As the SWAT team approached the building, the suspect, who has not yet been identified, came out of the front door with a shotgun and fired at least one shot, North Las Vegas Police spokesman Aaron Patty told NBC News.

Two officers were hit and later transferred to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being released. Two officers returned fire with multiple shots, hitting the suspect who was later pronounced dead at the scene, Patty said.

The spokesman added that there was a domestic relationship between the alleged shooter and the people being held inside the building but would not elaborate further.
