Police in Florida made a gruesome discovery Wednesday when they found the body of a woman pinned underneath a car in a parking lot, who had been sleeping in the space and was run over by a driver who thought she’d only driven over over a tote bag, officials said.
St. Petersburg police were called to the condominium parking lot Wednesday when a passerby spotted a woman’s hand poking out from underneath the parked vehicle, NBC affiliate WFLA in Tampa reported. Henrietta Regina Dickinson, 54, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said Dickinson, who was described as a transient, fell asleep in the parking lot the night before when she was run over, the station reported. The driver felt an impact but could only see a tote bag, and thought that was the cause of the bump, authorities said. There are no charges pending and it is being treated as an accident, police told the station.
