PRESS Pass: Dr. Erica Brown

Dr. Erica Brown hopes for a "new era" for faith across the world. Citing the election of Pope Francis as well as renewed hope for peace negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians, Brown said "I think this is a chance for faith to recover itself and it needs to. I think this has not been a good era for faith, it has not been a good era for religious leadership of all faiths and it’s time to come to terms with changes that have to be made."

Brown's new book, Happier Endings: A Meditation on Life and Death, explores death and how some families prepare better than others for the end of life. To do so, she identified certain families going through the death of a loved one and tried to understand "how faith commitments make a difference."

Brown believes it is important for people to "tie up the loose ends" of their life so they "can leave this world with more peace and leave more peace and serenity for those who survive us."
