Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., thanked colleagues Monday for their support after the death of his son Perry in a plane crash earlier this month.

"I had a horrible loss eight days ago, losing a son," Inhofe said on the Senate floor, thanking Senate chaplain Barry Black and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for their “very helpful” comments in the wake of the tragedy.

Dr. Perry Inhofe, 52, was an orthopedic surgeon in Tulsa. He was aboard a small plane that crashed in northeast Oklahoma on November 10. He was one of four children of the state’s senior senator.
