Japanese Americans incarcerated during WWII remembered in sacred book of names (Part 1)
More than 125,000 people of Japanese ancestry were wrongfully incarcerated in the United States during World War II. Now a 1,000-page book called the Ireichō collects those names for the first time, allowing visitors to honor their loved ones and ensuring that dark chapter of history will never be forgotten. NBC News’ Emilie Ikeda details the journey to create this powerful monument, now on view at the Japanese American National Museum.
