A Secret Service official confirms that a junior agent has been placed on administrative leave after allegations that he sent sexually suggestive texts to a young woman in the hours after working outside of a May 20th event attended by the First Lady.
The story was first reported by the "National Enquirer" and confirmed by the Washington Post today. The Secret Service stresses that agent is not on the First Lady's personal detail and is assigned to a field office.
The agent allegedly sent sexually suggestive texts while he was off duty and at least 8 hours after the event had wrapped.
"The U.S. Secret Service is aware of these allegations. As is our policy with any allegation of misconduct, the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General has been notified and this matter will be investigated jointly between the DHS-OIG and the Secret Service Office of Professional Responsibility. At this time, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation," Brian Leary, a Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement.
