The Broadway hit "Hamilton" has just received a record-breaking 16 Tony nominations.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's hip-hop, historical musical about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, who created the nation's financial system, has already won a Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize.

Miranda himself is nominated for three awards, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.
While Miranda celebrates "Hamilton's" record-breaking list of Tony nominations, people throughout the U.S. — especially in Puerto Rico — cheered the musical's success.
Christopher Jackson, Jonathan Groff and Daveed Diggs, all of whom are part of the "Hamilton" cast, are nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role.
Among the nominees is 25-year-old Phillipa Soo, nominated for Best Leading Actress. Soo made her Broadway debut in "Hamilton" as Elizabeth Schuyler.
