Rival gangs traded gunfire at a Detroit high school on Tuesday and one person was injured, according to NBC News affiliate WDIV.

Witnesses said a male who was not a student was shot in the arm at Central High School in downtown Detroit.

The shooter was also not a student, according to local news reports.

NBC News reported that the shooting occurred at the entrance of the school, near the metal detectors. All students were reported to be safe.
