Carnegie Library gets $400,000 Alcoa grant

The charitable arm of the aluminum maker Alcoa Inc. has given a $400,000 grant to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to help fund children's areas at two city libraries.

The areas at a library in the city's Homewood section and at a planned library on the North Side will be named after the Alcoa Foundation.

The grant was given as part of the Carnegie Library's Libraries for Life Capital Campaign, designed to raise money for a systemwide revitalization project.
