Msnbc.com, the website of the NBC News and msnbc cable programs, is seeking a producer to create high-quality content experiences in close coordination with Weekend Nightly News, Meet the Press, msnbc and msnbc.com editorial staff.
The job entails supporting and producing the two broadcast sites, writing, editing and curating video, text, social media and promotional content; working Wednesdays through Sundays; capitalizing on breaking and developing news, broadcast priorities and bookings, topical themes and social-media trends and working with other TV and online producers to develop competitive multiplatform editorial experiences.
Enthusiasm for both TV and Web production is a must. Strong interpersonal and digital skills are required. Candidate must enjoy collaboration, but also be able to work independently. The position requires a flexible work style, agility and poise under pressure, and good deadline disciple.
Promising candidates will have at least 3 years Web and/or TV experience, an interest in politics and newsmakers, strong headline writing and organizational skills, must enjoy working in deadline-driven news environments.
Applicants must demonstrate sound journalistic skills and ethics, thorough familiarity with online and TV news production; a keen understanding of online communities and social networking.
Also required: Facility with common blogging tools, community interaction and moderation, social-media distribution and etiquette; experience with content management systems and tools, online video, research skills; ease with/ability to learn technology a must; comfortable working in fast-paced and high-profile production setting.
