Tenet Healthcare Corp. said on Tuesday it has agreed pay $395 million to settle a lawsuit with patients claiming one of its hospitals performed unnecessary heart surgeries.

Tenet said it will set up a $395 million fund to be distributed among about 750 patients or more that were treated at Redding Medical Center in California.

The company said the fund will cause Tenet to breach certain covenants of its bank line of credit.
