MSNBC Host, “MSNBC at the Movies” and “MSNBC Entertainment Hot List”

Emmy Award-winner Sharon Tay is host of “MSNBC at the Movies,” an in-depth look at the movie industry and the source of behind-the-scenes information on the latest releases and box office numbers, and “MSNBC Entertainment Hot List,” a blend of the latest television, theater, music, and celebrity style news.  “MSNBC at the Movies” telecasts Saturdays, 12-1 p.m. (ET), and “MSNBC Entertainment Host List” telecasts Sundays, 12-1 p.m. (ET) on MSNBC.Prior to joining MSNBC, Tay served as anchor for “KTLA Morning News: First Edition” and “Early Edition” in Los Angeles, Calif.  In 2002 and 2004 Tay received an Emmy Award for her co-anchoring duties for Best Regularly Scheduled Daily News, and a Los Angeles Press Club Award in 2003 for “First Edition.” In addition, Tay co-hosted an Emmy-Award winning minority business program on KTLA-TV and also won two more Emmy Awards for Earthquake Coverage and Malibu Fire Coverage. In 2002, she co-hosted the weekly show “The Human Edge” on the National Geographic Channel.

Previously, Tay worked in different capacities at KMST-TV in Monterey, Calif.  She served as an investigative reporter for the consumer series “46 On Your Side,” and also served as a producer, general assignment reporter and anchor for the daily and nightly newscasts. In 1992, Tay received an Associated Press Award for Best Spot News.

Tay is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, and also supports and contributes to Law Enforcement for Asian Pacific, a L.A.P.D. organization for which she was honored by Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and the Los Angeles City Council. In addition, Tay donates time to animal rights activities and AIDS awareness.

Tay received her bachelor of science in broadcast journalism from Boston University College of Communications. She currently resides in New York City.
