"NBC Nightly News" anchor and managing editor Brian Williams interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday about the escalating violence between Israel and Hamas. More than 500 Palestinian civilians and more than two dozen Israeli soldiers have died in the conflict, now in its 14th day. Netanyahu called the civilian deaths “terribly saddening” but blamed Hamas for hiding behind the civilians and placing them in harm’s way.
