Samsung wants skinny-jeaned hipsters to know that its new Samsung Galaxy Alpha is solid. On Twitter, the company boasted, "Galaxy Alpha + skinny jeans = no problem." That was a not-so-subtle dig at Apple, whose iPhone 6 Plus was reportedly bent by several customers when placed in their front pockets — especially in tighter pants. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha ships with a 4.7-inch, 1280 by 720 pixel Super AMOLED display, 32 GB of storage, and a 12-megapixel rear camera. Samsung also wants you to believe it can withstand David Bowie in "Labyrinth" levels of pants tightness with an aluminum band circling the phone, which has a plastic back just like the Samsung Galaxy S5. To be fair, most of the problems were reported with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, not the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Apple went as far as to invite reporters into its iPhone torture facility to prove its new flagship devices were not prone to bending. Samsung is hoping a lot of people aren't convinced and pick up the Galaxy Alpha when it goes on sale Friday for $199.99 with a two-year contract with AT&T.
