Federal authorities on Tuesday were investigating reports of a small explosion near the NAACP chapter office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A source described the device to NBC News as a “pipe bomb-type” explosive. There were no reported injuries and authorities could not confirm whether the NAACP office was specifically targeted.
Amy Sanders, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Denver, confirmed that the bureau was involved in the investigation. Colorado Springs police deferred requests for comment to the FBI.
In a statement, the NAACP said no one was hurt and that they "look forward to a full and thorough investigation into this matter by federal agents and local law enforcement."
