San Diego Mayor Bob Filner resigns, breaks his silence

01:08

The San Diego city council has voted to accept Mayor Bob Filner’s resignation by a 7-0 vote in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal involving at least 18 women. After the vote Filner broke his silence, apologizing to anyone he offended, including his ex-fiancé. But he also called the process “removal of mayor by rumor and innuendo.” His resignation will become effective Aug. 30. NBC’s Joe Fryer reports.
