The 90th Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, and if they are anything like the Golden Globes — the first major awards show since explosive sexual harassment and assault allegations rocked the industry — expect rousing speeches and politically charged moments.
Jimmy Kimmel, who has been vocal in his disappointment with the Trump administration on his late-night ABC show, will host the Oscars for the second consecutive year.
"The Shape of Water" leads the pack of nominees, with 13, including best picture and best actress. Greta Gerwig is the fifth woman to be nominated for best director for “Lady Bird,” and Jordan Peele could become the first African-American to win best director for the blockbuster hit “Get Out.” Both scored with their solo directorial debuts.
